The Head of State
The Grand Duke of Luxembourg is also the Head of State. His role is to serve and protect the country and his fellow citizens. He represents Luxembourg at official events, both in Luxembourg and abroad. He appoints the Prime Minister and their government. But he can't make any decisions without the agreement of the government.
The Grand Duke promulgates the laws passed by Parliament, which means he signs them to make them official. But he himself cannot decide anything without the agreement of a Minister. After the elections, he appoints the Prime Minister. The ministers of the new government take the oath before the Grand Duke.
